NATIONAL IBC WORKSHOP AND TRAINING
1. Advanced Biorisk Officer Training (ABOT)
Malaysian Biosafety & Biosecurity Association (MBBA) established a partnership with the U.S. Department of State Biosecurity Engagement Program (BEP) to promote and strengthen biosafety and biosecurity in Malaysia. It is an eight-weeks intensive training consists of four modules.The modules are covered for over a one-year period in four, two-week sessions. The training is taken place at Wisma R&D, University of Malaya, Malaysia.
The schedule for the training sessions is as follows:
i) 14-25 January 2013
ii) 18-29 March 2013
iii) 23 September - 4 October 2013
iv) 11-22 November 2013
2. The 8th APBA Biosafety Conference 2013
The 8th APBA Biosafety Conference 2013 was organised by Asia-Pacific Biosafety Association (APBA) and Malaysian Biosafety & Biosecurity Assocation (MBBA). The main focus of this conference is on "Building a Sustainable Biorisk Culture in the Asia-Pacific Region". This conference is a forum for knowledge sharing on the emerging challenges In laboratory biosafety and biosecurity, biosafety and biosecurity regulatory initiatives and advancing professional development and capacity building.

4. Workshop on Biotechnology Commercialisation and Trade in APEC Economies- Biosafety Regulatory Perspective
The workshop was organized by Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Malaysian Biotechnology Cooperation (MBBA) and Department of Biosafety Malaysia. This workshop served as a platform to share knowledge and experience, especially when it comes to commercialise the modern biotechnology products.
